Muskie Odyssey 2020

Every year now the Muskie world gathers for Canada’s only all-muskie expo.  This is the rendezvous for all of us who can’t wait for the muskie season to open.
This fantastic event is organized by Muskies Canada. It brings together some of the best muskie experts  anywhere to show us how to be more effective in pursuit of giants.   Guest speakers include professional guides, bait makers, researchers and equipment specialists.

One of the most amazing things about the Odyssey is the variety of specialized exhibitors that develop products for muskie fanatics. We will have an incredible group of lure makers, tackle companies, apparel suppliers and muskie-related organizations to satisfy your pre-season muskie fever. Break open your piggybank because you’ll find some great deals and unique products that will want to come home with you.

Muskie Odyssey 2020

The Odyssey is Back!

Until now the Odyssey happened every other year. Our Board of Directors has reviewed the success of the 2019 Odyssey, which attracted record crowds and raised over $18,000 towards projects in Muskie research, education and conservation. From now on the Odyssey will be Canada’s giant gathering of the Muskie community every year!

Saturday, April 18, 2020 is the date. We will be back again at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreational Complex in Clarington (Bowmanville).

We will have an excellent line-up of speakers inform you about what’s new in Muskie fishing and to help you improve your success.

In 2020 we will have even more exhibitors including many of the best bait-makers in the world. Come and pick up some of the finest artisan-made baits ever available under one roof. You won’t believe the quality of these finely crafted baits and they catch fish! You will also see all of the key industry leaders like Shimano, Abu Garcia, St. Croix, Okuma, Daiwa, and others. We will have some of the finest Muskie resorts, clothing and accessories, and our big retailers Protackle, JB’s Fishing Depot and Joe Flo’s Muskie Tackle will be there with a broad selection all the gear you need to enhance your Muskie success.

Location:
Garnet B. Rickard Recreational Complex

Supporting Canadian Muskies

Muskies Canada works toward the sustainability of wild Muskellunge in Canada through angler education (catch & release), by supporting science through research/education grants to students doing Muskie research at Masters or PhD level, and throughout direct participation in monitoring and tracking studies. We partner with Provincial Ministries, Ducks Unlimited Canada and Regional Conservation Authorities to restore wetlands habitat that is essential for sustainable natural reproduction of this important apex predator.

Our Biggest Fundraiser

The Odyssey is unique. It’s the only Muskie expo anywhere that raises funds to support the Muskie fishery. The Odyssey is organized by a team of dedicated volunteers that come from Muskies Canada and across the industry. These volunteers give their time, expertise and assistance to help us raise badly needed funds for Muskie research, education and conservation. Muskies Canada uses the net proceeds from the event for projects, educational grants and other initiatives that will directly help our Muskie fishery.

Past Projects supported by Odyssey funds include:

  • Lake St. Clair Detroit River Telemetry Study with OMNRF
  • Lake Simcoe Muskie Restoration Project with OMNRF
  • Québec Muskie Study with Québec Ministry MFFP
  • Georgian Bay Muskie telemetry with McMaster & OMNRF
  • Kawarthas Pike Invasion Project
  • Project Noble Beast with Carleton U.
  • Spanish River Restoration Project with OMNRF
  • Research/Education grants to university students doing Muskie research
  • and many more
