Our Chapter was founded in 2008 and is centered in Peterborough, right in the heart of the Kawartha Lakes area. Since then we have grown to become one of the largest and most active chapters in Muskies Canada.
Our members have been very involved in research and conservation projects related to muskellunge and their habitat. We’ve been in the field for research involving the northern pike invasion into the Kawarthas, and for conservation efforts such as the Lake Simcoe Muskie Restoration Project. We’ve installed many ‘Know the Difference’ (KTD) signs throughout the Kawarthas at public access points to help educate anglers about the differences between northern pike and muskellunge. We’ve raised thousands of dollars for research and conservation projects. In 2018 alone, we donated $3500 from our chapter to conservation efforts.
We’re also very involved with valuable community projects such as outings with Wounded Warriors, Ontario Women Anglers and the Greenwing Youth Fishing Derby in Peterborough. You’ll see our members at many of the fishing and outdoor shows throughout central Ontario.
Our meetings feature presentations by some of the leading custom bait builders in the muskie world, guides, retailers, manufacturers, research scientists, and other interesting people from the community.
